A little bit different this time around. We look at different takes of two different tracks: The Ship Song (originally by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds), and Hallelujah (originally by Leonard Cohen). You'll hopefully see the amazing differences that each artist added with their unique style.

I liked the format of this edition, and I also liked the selections that you chose.

I'm wondering if you know of any Nick Drake covers...

There's also the "Sweet Jane" cover by the Cowboy Junkies, popularized by its inclusion in the Natural Born Killers soundtrack.

The Triple Takes format is fantastic! It is wonderful to hear the original then a couple of quality covers of the same song. This format gets my vote!!

What a great show. Thanks a lot. You might want to check out John Cale's version of Hallelujah from his way cool live album Fragments of a Rainy Season. To me the Rufus version is a cover of his cover. Do more of these (probably not that easy). I loved it.

Brian, I love listening to your show, but, man, you gotta get a little more savvy with the technical end. Lots of songs that are way too low in volume, which then all of a sudden ramp up to the correct volume, killing my speakers and ears! Also, you don't have to tell us when you're experiencing technical difficults. Just stop recording, fix it, and move on. Otherwise, great show! I really enjoy it.

Also, I agree that the John Cale cover of Hallujah is far superior to Rufus' version.
