even though this is the first time i post a comment, i'm a long-time listener and look forward to every new edition of Coverville. Coverville is groovy and i especially enjoy today's show.... always good to find answers through the power of music :)
may i make a request for a future 'all-request night'? how about U2's cover of the 1979 Patti Smith Group's "Dancing Barefoot".
thanks and keep the covers coming!!
cheers
Posted by: donna at January 19, 2005 9:09 AMThanks for turning my kudos into a train wreck, LOL! At the very least I got some Louie, Louie out of it. Great show!!!
Posted by: Obi at January 19, 2005 9:46 AM1. Cool, a Def Leppard cover from my favorite album of theirs.
2. I think I'm an instant fan of Damone. This is the first song in a while that's made me want to run out and buy the CD.
3. Joan Jett has done loads of covers, and her album "The Hit List" is not her hits, but rather entirely covers of other people's hits. Other covers not on that album include "Everyday People", "Roadrunner", and a couple versions of the Mary Tyler Moore theme song, "Love Is All Around". And I'm not sure if "Light of Day" counts as a cover or not. (All of these are on her "Fit To Be Tied" collection.) "Celluloid Heroes" has always been one of my favorites though.
Awesome last track...Moodswings has always been a favorite of mine. Another great show!

I'd like to request one of the covers that XTC did back in the late '80s early '90s for various tribute albums. They made up different band names. If you need more info, contact me and I'll look up some specific instances.
Another request - around the same time, there was an album of Rutles covers. I'd like to hear any song from that album. Or alternately, any Spinal Tap cover, particularly Big Bottoms.
Posted by: Eric at January 20, 2005 1:44 PMLOVE the Podcast! I started listening to Podcasts a few weeks ago, and of course I started with about 20 different shows. Now I've managed to whiddle that down to five or six shows and yours is definitely my favorite. Thanks for a great podcast!
I would like to make a request - the soundtrack for Honeymoon in Vegas has some amazing Elvis covers. I especially like Dwight Yoakam's take on "Suspicious Minds" and Bono's version of "Can't Help Falling in Love With You". But there are some other very good tracks on that CD. I'd love to hear a few of those tracks, maybe on an Elvis cover show?
Thanks again!eddie Posted by: Eddie at January 20, 2005 5:44 PM
I think I mistakenly posted this in the wrong show comments, so here goes again: "State of Independence" was first covered by Donna Summer. It's my favorite version (sort of a guilty pleasure)--very funky and heavy on the percussion. I love Chrissie's voice, but Moodswings' version is a bit wimpy by comparison
