If that's the version of "One" I'm familiar with, it's truly appalling. Mike Mills needs to pick a key.

That personal jesus cover is hillarious! :))

Sorry Brian for inflicting your listeners to my love for cheesy girl pop-rock cover songs :)

Even if I sent them in anonymously I think you could spot which ones were mine.

If that's the version of "One" that I'm familiar with, it's from the 1992 MTV Inaugural Ball -- hosted by Dennis Miller when he was still a loud-mouthed liberal and not the loud-mouthed Bush supporter he is today.

I had the whole show on a VHS tape and I think I recorded the audio onto a cassette tape, too. It's been ages since I dove into my box of cassettes so I don't know if it's still there.

I don't remember that version of "One" being so awful. However, that same show had 10,000 Maniacs -- still with Natalie Merchant -- performing "To Sir, With Love" with some help from Michael Stipe. Can you track that one down, Brian?

Doug - Brian played the 10K/Merchant/Stipe version of To Sir With Love on Coverville #12. If you can't find it in the archives, then send me a note and I can cut you a copy off the podcast. ballenATttfwiDOTcom
