Coverville 125: Some requests to help you get over the Summertime Blues...

Another pleasant valley Sunday, and another all-request show. And some beautiful suggestions on this one, as well as some stuff that really rocks. Here 'tis:

Summertime Blues Rush Eddie Cochran
Songs of Love Ben Folds The Divine Comedy
A Little Respect Bjorn Again Erasure

There's a "Voices from the Vault" Musically Challenged in this show! Make sure to check out Gerry's podcast, Voices from the Vault! Posted by bibbott at August 28, 2005 6:11 PM

Not anything to do with this particular show, but I found something that could be worth looking at for future shows:

A handful of Split Enz covers. I haven't had a look around the rest of the site, but it seems like it could be handy.

Damn man, after listening to some of the old shows, I love Coverville even more - Bic Runga, Crowded House, Split Enz... you're a champion!

OH! I just love Erasure! Are there any other covers that you are aware of Brian? I would love to hear more on the show!

I agree with Silas. I remember when Drama! came out. I listened to that over and over again. Listening to Bjorn Again really did sound like Abba. Makes me want to hear more from them, too!

I didn't like the Rush version of Summertime Blues because they didn't say the end of the verse (e.g., "I called my congressman, and he said, quote" - nothing after that.) Kinda annoying, imho. I prefer the Alan Jackson version. I also like AJ's version of "Mercury Blues". Maybe you could play that at a later time.

BTW, the Voice from the Vault WAS really hard this week!

Take care and keep in touch!

There is an error in Musically Challenged this week. The voice identified as belonging to 'Neil Finn' does not sound like Neil to me. It is definitely his brother Tim.
