Thank you!

Tom Waits (of the musical Holy Trinity with Dylan and Van Morrison) is the unknown genius of contemporary music.

Their styles cannot be "covered" (Listen to the Lion anyone?) but the attempt and tribute in doing so is delicious to drink in. I will relish this lineup for a long time.

Haven't listened to the show yet (it's still downloading), but I'm surprised there's nothing from Holly Cole's excellent album Temptation, which is entirely comprised of Waits covers.

You're my last hope. I'm trying to track down where I can find (on what album) the Save Ferris covers of "Christmas Wrapping" and "Father Christmas". I can find a ton of places that tell me they exist but none that tell me where.

I've been a long time listener to your show.

It was only a matter of time before you did a Tom Waits only show.

Granted you can't fit all of the great Tom Waits covers into one show but I've come up with a list of additional covers that I personally would've used.

Keep up the great work.

Oh sure, everyone's got their favorite Tom Waits covers... Actually, it was my evil plan all along to put this show together so I could get a few suggestions on what to include in the Tom Waits Cover Story Volume II!

Keep em coming!

Brian,

A little late (catching up on my listening during the busy holiday season), but thanks for the acoustic "Downtown Train". I was surprised some time ago to find that it was originally a Tom Waits song. There's another fine cover of it by Patty Smyth on her Greatest Hits CD, too. Definitely a great song with many nice interpretations.

Well if you're soliciting suggestions for the next Tom Waits cover story, I've gotta give a shout out to the ol' hometown.
How about "Christmas Card From A Hooker In Minneapolis?"
I know Neko Case covered it, but I personally like Kacey Jones' version.
