You know, when I was putting this show together, I never even thought about it being a North American holiday. Groundhog Day is an annual holiday that goes back to the mid-1800s. It's said that if a groundhog emerges from its burrow on the morning of February 2, and sees its shadow (meaning the sky is not overcast), then there will be six more weeks of Winter. If the groundhog doesn't see its shadow, there will be an early Spring. But the inspiration for Episode 175 of Coverville was actually a Bill Murray movie from 1993. Bill plays a weatherman, who is 'trapped' on February 2, and must repeat the day over and over until he learns to be less selfish, and fall in love. Hence, the repeating beginning of Coverville. If you haven't seen the movie, I totally recommend it. I think it's one of Bill Murray's funniest. Thanks for the explanation -- and the cover songs! I love the Britney covers. My favorite is still Fountains of Wayne's version of 'One More Time.

After telling my partner about the episode, she wanted to hear it. So I listened to it again on a car ride yesterday with her. She just laughed and laughed at the B. Spears songs. And she explained the whole "raise and shine" thing. I had forgotten about that from the movie. Anyway, you now have another convert to the show!

then the opener replayed, and i have to admit, i was one of the "WTF" crowd. Thought you messed up.
But then when I GOT IT, and that you played the same 2 songs each time... I laughed out loud at your brilliance.
