Coverville 164: Beneath the Planet of Originalville
It's a late night here, at 12:40am on the morning of April 1st, so I'm going to get shownotes for this episode later. But you will hear some amazing stuff on tonight's show. Songs you may not have realized were covers:
| Title (with link to iTunes, if available) | Artist | Album (with link to Amazon.com, if available) | Original Artist |
Win an iPod nano and help support the show by participating in the Coverville Listener Survey. Thanks for your support!
i hate you.
shoulda seen it coming, but didn't...
Fooled me until you mentioned the Laotian guerillas :-)
Posted by: Rodney at April 1, 2006 09:21 AMI hate you too...
I promised myself wouldn't get caught by an april fool prank this year, how could I suspect it would come from an "innocent podcast".
Nice one Brian.
Good weekend to all...

Posted by: dan klass at April 1, 2006 11:27 AMNice! I knew Britney stole all her best songs! :)
BTW, you have a typo. You've got this listed as show #164 instead of 194.

Posted by: HellZiggy at April 1, 2006 01:41 PMYou are one sick puppy. I fell for this. Hook, line and sinker. Even convinced a co-worker that Nirvana's "Come As You Are" was a cover.
Oops I did it again is what saved me from complete foolishness.
Bravo on an excellent job.
Posted by: Loren Finkelstein at April 1, 2006 02:54 PMThe giveaway initially was this being listed as #164 (which I'm assuming was deliberate.) Amusing overall, though. Alas, I'm being all wary today about April Fools gags.
I enjoy the show though.
Posted by: Steven E. McDonald at April 1, 2006 03:16 PMYou know what? I don't care if it WAS an April Fools gag...it was frickin' awesome!!!
I fell for it until you mentioned Engelbert Humperdink...NO ONE mentions Engelbert Humperdink unless there's a joke involved...
James Bean Royal Jelly Orchestra Variety Hour??!!!
I think I love you.
Posted by: missbhavens at April 1, 2006 03:31 PMFab show, Brian.
You had me until the sitars kicked in on Safety Dance. It was plausible until then!
Well done, as always. Thanks!
Posted by: Barry from Killen at April 1, 2006 05:06 PMI was trying to decide how to break it to my "massive zepplin fan" buddy that 'Stairway..' was a cover when the little voice in the back of my head wouldn't shut up about 'come as you are' being Kurt's song. Almost compleatly snowed me. Good show Brian!
Posted by: Eli at April 2, 2006 03:09 AMBrian, you got me hook, line and sinker. I survived April 1st, but not April 2nd (the time it was available in Australia)
Posted by: Kevin Cooper at April 2, 2006 07:20 AMI don't understand why everyone says this was an April Fool's edition, I thought all these nifty originals were just awesome. I always thought Jagger and Richard wrote "Honky Tonk Women," was there ever a lawsuit over that?
By the way, I've never been able to get a clean feed of your Feb. 2 show, mine keeps skipping back to the beginning. Is there anything special I need to do to fix that?
;-)
