Wow, the beginning of “My Sweet Lord” sounded just like the driving music from “Manos: The Hands of Fate”. Thank goodness it got better after that 🙂
The cover of Cry Cry Cry is the WORST cover I have ever heard, ever! I am a huge Johnny Cash fan and maybe that has something to do with how I feel about this song, but its terrible and sure hope it doesn’t run the original for me.
Thanks for playing my request Brian. I’m still down after watching that movie but this cover leapt out at me as being right up your street, and mine as it happens! Jarvis Cocker also appears at the end of the credits with THAT song and no, I don’t think he intended it to be referred to as Running The World!
RubyTuesday!!!!
What a fantastic cover that is!
I have a list of a few shows I keep coming back to because of their special songs: Seu George (SP?) singing “Rebel Rebel” comes to immediately to mind [show 050714]; I think this show will be in that list.
Brian,
Thank you so much for playing my 5,6,7,8’s request. I was surprised to hear my voice as I was working on an experiment. 🙂 You asked how my research was going and it is going very well. Right now I am in the midst of deciding on some faculty positions, which is both an exciting and scary time. Many thanks to you for helping me get through a PhD PLUS many long nights in the lab!
Hi Brian! I figured that if a cover/mashup of My Sweet Lord/He’s So Fine existed somewhere in Coverville, you’d find it.
Very interesting show.
