Jeff Beck’s version of Morning Dew wasn’t the original. The composer, Bonnie Dobson, recorded a version in 1962, but it wasn’t released. Fred Neil released a version in ’65. Tim Rose (credited with a co-write) released it in ’67, as did the Grateful Dead. Jeff Beck’s version was on Truth, released in ’68.
OK – please forgive my boneheadedness about the Bruce Springsteen-Patti Smith connection. YES, I was talking about “Because The Night”, NOT “Dancing Barefoot”. Sometimes my mind just spews out trivia even if it’s not relevant to the topic at hand.
