If you haven’t already, please answer a few questions in the June Coverville Survey!
We’ll make our way from Minneapolis to Milwaukee and Detroit for tonight’s show, starting with a very special tribute to Karl Mueller of Soul Asylum:
Title | Artist | Original Artist: |
The Tracks of My Tears | Soul Asylum | Smokey Robinson and the Miracles |
Let’s Do It | Paul Westerberg and Joan Jett | Cole Porter |
Jet | Semisonic | Paul McCartney and Wings |
Eep Opp Ork Ah-Ah (Means I Love You) | Violent Femmes | Jet Screamer (from the Jetsons) |
Controversy | Information Society | Prince |
Karate | Emperors | (Keener Double-Shot) |
Everybody’s Everything | Santana | The Emperors |
Thanks for playing Tracks of my Tears for Karl Mueller. Karl was a good bass player and, by all accounts, a great guy. Along with Dave Pirner and Dan Murphy, he recorded some of the finest rock to come out of Minneapolis and was part of some of the most memorable concerts I’ve ever seen and heard. He will be missed.
Throw in some Westerberg and Semisonic and this one is sure to be one of my favorite Covervilles for a long long time.
Great Job!
I wish you would have done a call for requests for this episode. I would have requested a cover from my favorite old school Minnesota band, Husker Du.
Cheers!
