The original film, “The Little Shop of Horrors” came out in the 1960 (featuring a very young Jack Nicholson in a bit role), but the Menken/Ashman musical version didn’t come out in 1982.
The musical “Chess” was written by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus (the guys from ABBA). Only the lyrics were by Tim Rice. “One Night In Bangkok” is from the same musical.
Ah, thanks for the clarification on the Chess track. But regarding Little Shop – didn’t I say all of that during the show? I think I might have said 1959 for the Corman film.
I thought the timeline got a bit muddied during your description, too. The off-Broadway musical version of the show premiered in 1982. The movie version of the musical was released in 1986.
Also, George Gershwin wrote the music for the songs listed but lyrics were usually done by his brother Ira. And Fred Ebb worked with John Kander on Chicago.
I loved that version of Do Re Mi, and I loved that band’s sound! It’s a shame I can’t find anything else by them.
Jeez man, you freaked me out for a second there with the “Late Great Jon Lovitz” joke.
Really liked this as a show concept. Was hoping to hear some of the pitch perfect show tune covers by Seth MacFarlane from his Music is Better Than Words album from 2011. Maybe on bonus tracks?
Am I not your Girl is not a CD single but rather an album of covers that she did. I liked the track you played well enough to get the album.
