Wow, I was right, you really are mushy. I sent you something via email and the link will expire shortly, so open it…thanks, Dianne.
congrats on the 1 year anniversary! 🙂
I’m still waaay behind in the shows but I’ll listen to it eventually 😀
Congratulation! One year and still the best podcast going. I can’t wait to hear what the next year will bring.
Happy Birthday to you!
Happy Birthday to you!
Happy Birthday, dear Coverville!
Happy Birthday to you!
I’m almost embarassed to say this but I LOVED that Paul Young song in High School. I guess that makes me pretty sappy, too. Great show and congrats!
Love the show and all, but are you sure thats how Semisonic is pronounced?
Listen to an NPR interview here: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=3847612
No offence, just it started to bug me after you said it a few times. Love the podcast! Really!
Nick,
I’m never sure how ANYTHING is pronounced, and this wouldn’t be the first time I’m corrected. Just ask Bruce Cockbrun.
If the drummer pronounces it “semmysonic” and not “sem-eye-sonic”, that’s more than good enough for me. And I would never take offense at being corrected!
But does anyone know: “man-doe-chell-oh” or “man-doe-sell-oh”
Hey, wasn’t The Sundays’ version of Wild Horses in the rollercoaster scene of the movie Fear (w/Mark Wahlberg and Reese Witherspoon)? That is a great cover. Keep it up Brian.
Love the show, and I was sure that the Opie Gone Bad song was Corey Glover (from Living Colour). You could dedicate a whole show to Living Colour/Corey Glover covers (Take Me To The River, Back In Black, Memories, Drifting, In From The Storm, etc).
Thanks for doin’ the show, I love it!
Any day I get to hear Too Much Joy is a good day.
Hi, congrats on your one-year anniversary. I am so glad to see someone else is so passionate about fun(k)ny coversongs. I have rediscovered a lot of music through your shows. Thank you and keep up the great work!
Thanks for a great drive to work! Loved the Connells 74/75. Checked out “Smells Like Teen Spirit” by Paul Anka? Saw him do it on Letterman. It was actually good. You have my vote, always.
Congrats to a great year and thank you for the show!
Great show!
Is there any change of having a separeate iTunes feed containing all the shows? It would make catching up really easier.
Brian,
Congratulations on the first anniversary! The show only continues to get better. Regarding your latest list suggestion, the Top 6 Covers, I had to think about it a while (and I still couldn’t get it down below 7!). There are really too many great covers to narrow it down that far, but here are the ones that I chose today (with original artists in parentheses):
Top Six (OK, Seven) Covers
1. “Stand By Me” by U2 & Bruce Springsteen (Live, bootleg) (Ben E. King)
2. “Pinball Wizard” by Elton John (The Who)
3. “Blue Bayou” by Linda Ronstadt (Roy Orbison)
4. “Jambalaya” by John Fogerty and the Blue Ridge Rangers (Hank Williams)
5. “Wild Night” by John Mellencamp and Meshell Ndegeocello (Van Morrison)
6. “Tainted Love” by Soft Cell (Gloria Jones)
7. “Mad World” by Gary Jules & Michael Andrews (Tears for Fears)
All the best as you cruise into Year Two!
Ron
