I think you made a mistake about the housemartins and the Beautiful South coming from Brighton. Paul Heaton did meet Quinton (Norman) Cook in the south of England but it wasn’t until 1983 when Paul moved to Hull that the Housemartins came into existence. The Beautiful South was created after the Housemartins split in 1987. 🙂
You’re absolutely right – both bands were formed in Hull. I thought there was a Brighton connection – but I’m not sure what it is, unless it’s the Heaton-Cook connection…
