[sarcasm]Another one from a plane? My Goodness![/sarcasm]
Either i got into my special stuff or this was one of the BEST ever! What did I do before Coverville? Love the show! I must own some of those Jars of Clay.
Thanks for the show
Awesome! It could just be that I love U2 but this is my current favorite episode of Coverville. U2’s rendition of “Unchained Melody” followed by “Who’s Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses” as covered by Statica was a 1-2 punch that left me knocked-out with delight (if that’s possible :-). I have never heard of the band Statica but they remind me of what I like about Jacob Dylan and the Wallflowers. The parallel may be interpretted in less-than-flattering way but, I assure you, I mean it in the most flattering way imaginable. I have listened and re-listened to those two songs about a dozen times thus far and I intend to keep doing so. Good selections, Brian!
Perhaps in your next episode you can come up with a rationalization for $550 earbuds.
$550 sounds outrageous, even at the keen dollar to pound rate at present!
They should be wearing masks and have a “swag” bag for that price…
Well, to be fair, the $550 is the suggested retail price. I’m sure you’ll be able to find them cheaper. But the sound on these is incredible. According to the literature, they’ve got triple-definition speakers in each earbud, which I equate to having those little Bose acoustimass speakers in your ears. And they also have that nifly little built-in powered microphone and the button that enables it.
Two years ago, I bought a pair of decent earbuds for $150. And I was blown away by the difference in sound over the earbuds that came with my iPod. Honestly, I’m not the type who makes enough money to spend $550+ on headphones. But I’m also not the type to buy a Bang and Olufsen home stereo either. My ears just aren’t trained enough to pamper with luxuries like that.
I know music and life is all about people’s opinions but I could disagree more about the U2 “Unchained Melody” and Statica covers. I really wasn’t impressed at all in comparison to the other covers on there like the Cowboy Junkies and the Electron Love Theory tracks which were beautiful.
I loved the show though, the cover stories really show a bands level of song writing and this showed U2 in a very good light.
Keep up the great work Brian!
Great show as ususal. I did not know about the new Cowboy Junkie album. Problem now resolved, I just placed an order for it.
They have done lots of great covers plus originals over the years. There version of Hank William’s I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry still stands up as one of the best covers ever.
