You know, never really thought of this, but having heard the Hounds Of Love cover, that is definately a song that The Cure could have performed in that style, which is interesting as the Cure were covered before this!
KC & The Sunshine band cover was awesome…countdown 2007?
And I had the same thought about “Kiss” – enjoying the whole train wreck of American Idol here in the UK too. Leave off Simon though; he is always fair but brutally honest…and if ever there were people who needed a wake up call…
And “Word Up” took me uncomfortably close to my youth.
Great stuff Brian. it still amazes me the quality of the show.
Interestingly enough, John Lennon originally conceived “Help!” as a slow song like it’s covered here. He sped it up when they decided to make it the title track of the movie ’cause they wanted an upbeat single.
The website for Dala is dalagirls.com where you can buy The Cure cover featured in the Torontoist cover song post.
Willis is at willismusic.co.uk. Very very cool.
