Brian, you ran last weeks maybe’s list (apart from tracks 2 and 6)!
Man, that Norwegian cover was awful, truly one of the most tuneless covers ever, and easily worse than ANYTHING on 301. I could probably listen to the Puppini Sisters over that. Yes, really!
Ron Sexsmith is great, but he single handedly robbed that song of everything that The Rats and later Tori Amos put into it. Truly awful IMO.
I was also amused by the band credits for The And, but I think you missed the significance of the difference between the four all purpose vocal-keyboard-guitar guys and the singular drummer. Drumming is truly challenging and most people just can’t do it. That’s the point!
Hurra Torpedo gave that song everything it deserved…
Brian, have you heard of this CD?

Hey!
Totally unnecessary but thank you for the mention.
That “Total Eclipse of the Heart” cover is amazing!!!!!!!
Tim
A couple of comments:
First, the “bass guitar” you refer to for The Be Good Tanyas is correctly referred to as upright bass, double bass, or simply, “bass”. Bass guitar generally refers to an electric bass (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bass_guitar). Not to be pedantic, but something a music lover may be interested to know.
Also, I totally hear you with the “don’t want to call the “Worst Covers” show the “Worst Covers” show, as it’s not the vibe you want to give. I get that. But “Cracked Covers” could maybe use some work, too. Some possibilities:
“Crazy Covers”
(a bit too…juvenile?)
“Kooky Covers”
(see above. This is going downhill…)
“Covers on Crack”
(Heh. Better, but not exactly right. Unless you mean the ODB/Macy Grey duet. But I digress…)
“B-Side Covers”, or “Covers from the B-Side”
(This is the best at capturing what I think you’re after, I think.)
