To quote Hayes and Porter, "And I thank you!"
Thanks. Just started a second play.
Had to check my library. Only have two Isaac Hayes albums as such, Hot Buttered Soul and The Very Best Of (2007) compilation album. The compilation has the much shorter single mixes of Walk on By and By The Time I Get Phoenix.
The full length live version of Isaac doing Lay Lady Lay is also interesting.Probably not a dry seat in the house.
On my Stax-Volt album, Phoenix is over 6 minutes! Not 18 as on HBS, but plenty long.
Great timing… I just got back from Memphis and a visit to the STAX museum. They had Issac Hayes pimped out Caddy! Would highly recommend a visit if you are ever in the area.
Brian, I know you like to give the independants and the smaller acts a lot of play, but I have to pimp an incredible version of "When Something is Wrong With My Baby" It's on the Rhythm Country & Blues compilation and its performed by Travis Tritt and Patti LaBelle.
It simply blows the doors off any other version I've heard of this tune, including the original. If you could see your way clear at some point I think the citizens, as well as the casual listeners would surely benefit.
