Finally, the second volume of the Queen Cover Story! And for this extra-large episode, I’m joined in-studio by the biggest Queen fan I know, Uncle George! Come listen to his embarrassingly extensive Queen knowledge.

I’m downloading now and will listen immediately, but I just wanted to say thank you.
Didn’t care much for these “We Will Rock You” and “Another One Bites The Dust” covers, style-wise, but then things picked up and you redeemed yourself for the rest of the show. 🙂 But then I’m just as much of a Queen fan as your Uncle George, so I have high expectations for anyone attempting to cover them. Thanks for this episode – much appreciated!
Still listening – but this is way longer than 49 minutes! iTunes says 73 minutes.
George is such an asset. I’m a Queen hits fan, but I like the way you delve into the deeper cuts.
This easily could have been stretched to a two-parter. On previous shows, you’ve played the Keane cover of “Under Pressure” from the great Radio One compilation, and the Weird Al cover of “Bohemian Rhapsody” pops up in the Countdown, but my collection also includes a cover of “Get Down Make Love” by Nine Inch Nails (good) and a cover of “Under Pressure” by Blood Brothers (bad).
I think maybe Jedward’s “Under Pressure” could have fitted in 🙂
And, on the subject of talent shows, the recent X Factor winner Joe McElderry did quite a good cover of “Somebody to love” on the B side to his opening single (another cover – The Climb).
Meant to say too re: Sacha Baron Cohen playing Freddie Mercury, if he can convince lots of Americans he is a guy from Khazakstan or a German gay movie star… 🙂
Superb show that is a brilliant advert for everything that is great about Coverville. A very eclectic set that perfectly shows off your feelings about what makes a cover – taking it and making it your own by making it totally different.
I got my hopes up when you said instrumental version of Bohemian Rhapsody. I was hoping to hear the version by The California Guitar Trio. I saw them at the 1st, and I think only, Salt Lake City Music Festival in 2000. It was a small stage in a park and to see 200+ heads aged 5 to 65 start bangin’ a la Wayne’s World at the start of the 4th(?) movement was something I’ll always remember. I hope you can include it in the Bonus Tracks
