Sometimes artists decide that one cover just isn’t enough, and they wedge a whole extra song into their cover version. Here’s some fine examples of this alarming occurrence:
“My Best Friends Magic Girlfriend” – Butch Walker (originally the Cars)
“Since U Been Gone/Maps”- Ted Leo (originally Kelly Clarkson and The Yeah Yeah Yeahs)
“Where The Streets Have No Name (I Can’t Take My Eyes Off You” – The Pet Shop Boys (originally U2 and Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons)
“Be My Number Two/Shanghai Sky” – Amy Fox (originally Joe Jackson)
“Broken Bicycles/Junk” – Anne Sofie Von Otter and Elvis Costello (originally Tom Waits and Paul McCartney)
“The Way/Besame Mucho” – The Lounge-a-Leers (originally Fastball and a Latin Standard)
“Seasons In The Sun/The Hustle” – The Squirrels (“Seasons…” most popularly by Terry Jacks, “The Hustle” originally by Van McCoy)

Anybody able to download this? Both NNW and straight transfer within Safari keep on chugging along past the supposed 35.0 meg filesize. I can’t get a valid file.
Even playing it “live” within the browser window, something’s wrong. As Brian intros the Joe Jackson cover, the show starts over at that point.
Can also only download 14.11 min., so there seems to be something wrong. Shame, ‘ cause was enjoying the Pet Shop Boys, when it just quit.
Keep up the good work, there are still so many uncovered covers out there for us to hear!
Greetings from Europe!
Brian – Haven’t been able to download the file yet , but in reading the notes, something caught my eye. Wasn’t “The Hustle” written and performed by Van McCoy and not by the Hues Corporation (who did “Rock The Boat”). Or is this another case of the where the original is actually a cover?
Sorry ’bout that. I wasn’t having any problem on the PC I use for testing, but nonetheless, I re-uploaded the file. Refresh your pages and try again, and please let me know if it’s still happening…
I had the same problem but deleted the file I downloaded yesterday and downloaded a new file and all is well.
Thanks Brian. Great show. I love Amy Fox.
I’m still not able to download it. I’ve refreshed the page as suggested and tried using Safari, Firefox, Explorer and iPodderX but no joy. Any tips or possibiliy of a new file? Thanks.
