You want requests? You got ’em. Right here in this show. Wait. Did you actually request ‘requests’? That seems like a waste of time. Next time, request a song.

Oh, Brian. You mentioned all the songs in the musically challenged were from the ’80s. How wrong you are. “Cold as Ice” and “Vienna” are from the late ’70s (1977) and Saturday in the Park is from 1971.
I instantly picked up on that one. Foreigner (with Eddie Money opening) was the very first concert I went to in high school. I left where I grew up to go to college in 1980 so I knew it had to be before then.
Otherwise, Great Show!
I hate when it’s impossible for me to buy a song…like Pumped Up Kicks. What the heck, they don’t want to make money?!
But at least I don’t feel guilty for ripping it from the Coverville episode.
You mispronounced Mike Doughty’s name. It’s pronounced Doughty, not Doughty… wait, that doesn’t work in text. Go listen to “Mr. Xcitement” which he did with They Might Be Giants. John says his name at the beginning.
Interesting to hear what you said about Sandie Shaw’s version of (There’s) Always Something There To Remind Me… I’ve always thought of her version as being *the* definitive one.
But, then again, I’m English – so what do I know? 😉
Thanks for the shoutout! When I saw that Lelia Broussard cover in the track list, I got a little excited.
When I heard the cover of Elliot Smith’s “Between the Bars,” I immediately thought of Toad the Wet Sprocket frontman Glen Phillips, who has done some excellent solo acoustic renditions of the song, one of which was performed with Nickel Creek here:

Which also got me to thinking, Glen has a long track record of covering his favorite artists in his solo performances, one of which is an excellent cover of Billy Bragg’s “Levi Stubb’s Tears” in this 2005 show, which incidentally also features one of Glen’s best performances of “Between the Bars”:

Brian, what are the chances of getting either of these on an upcoming Coverville episode?
