I haven’t listened to the whole show yet, though I got up to the beginning of the last set.
But may I say: you REALLY were enjoying that first set of music! I don’t always see the show live – it’s usually on when I’m about to leave work to go home – but you were bopping more than I’ve ever seen!
I think the volume in headphones was turned up to ’11’ this morning. Fantastic job (as always)!
Great show! I hope at some point I can be in the live studio audience again. 🙂 One question though, I didn’t know The Doors covered Suzie Q, I thought it was CCR.
OK – I could have sworn I had a Doors version of Susie Q, but all the versions I’m looking at here in my library are CCR. I might have to do an corrective “Degrees of Coveration” set in the all-request show, starting with CCR. Am I the only one who remembers a Doors cover of Susie Q?
I think the confusion may have started Brian because the Dale Hawkins original is on the Apocalypse Now soundtrack, which of course is most remembered for The Doors contribution. Nevertheless, that was a fantastic cover by The Doors and I especially enjoyed that trademark Ray Manzarek keyboard on this track.
You can catch Clare Grogan by the way as an actress in the film Gregory’s Girl. Was fantastic in 1981 and still is!
Geek cred? Dude, there is nothing geeky about The Band. You should be giving Diamond props for rock royalty cred.
