Yes, Idina Menzel starred with Kristin Chenoweth on Broadway in Wicked in 2003.
The Phantom of the Opera song rocked! (Literally).
Driving home from Dinner with the wife on Saturday night during a bad Storm when Nightwish came on, it was amazing soundtrack to our drive. 🙂
Yep, Idina Menzel (pronounced men-zelle) was Maureen in the original cast of “Rent” (also in the movie) and Elphaba, witch of the west, in the original cast of “Wicked”. Personally, I can’t listen to her for very long… her two levels are “belting as loud as possible” or “not singing”.
She was, however, the perfect choice for that role on “Glee”, playing the mother of a girl who not only looks like her, but is equally obnoxious to listen to.
Not only was Menzel in Wicked, but she won a Tony for her performance. (Beating out Chenoweth, one might add…)
