In a year of many famous artists turning 70, I don’t know if any of the others are called “sir” – but today marks the 70th birthday of Sir Paul McCartney, and we honor him with covers on tonight’s show! (52 minutes)

Why not go with Guns n’ Roses version of “Live and Let Die”? Best cover of that song ever produced.
Mostly because everyone knows the GNR version – if I can, I like to pull a cover that is going to be unknown to most people.
Chrissie Hynde is one of the best female vocalists on the planet. Great choice.
I really liked that Rossland cover of “Let ‘Em In”. While trying to find that song, I found this album in amazon’s UK store: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Rossland/dp/B004GW3HL2
I’m not sure if it’s the same group. Anyone know where I can get a CD with that cover?
Ok, I think I found more info about Ross Land here: http://dedica.la/artist/ROSS/biography#.T-Gs1PWwV8c which lead me to https://www.recordunion.com/Music/Album/13849 with songs from their album.
They sound like they’ve been heavily influenced by the Beatles.
I’m a huge Beatles fan, but every time I listen to Paul’s solo work I’m struck by how much he needed John’s edge to temper his sappy, often lazy songwriting. He runs the gamut from brilliant rock ballads like “Maybe I’m Amazed” to crap like “Let ‘Em In”, which sounds like a ditty you noodle over with your ukulele on the couch but don’t release on a commercial album. Still I love you, Sir Paul!
That “Back on My Feet” cover is great! And the “Coming Up” one sounds like Joe Jackson.
No covers of Jet out there? One of my favourite tracks from Band on the Run.
