I think New Years Day has improved on the original with their cover of Don’t Speak. I love the original but like the grunginess this version adds.
The Weezer cover of “Africa” was disappointingly faithful to the unfortunate original.
I believe The John Wesley Harding cover of “If You Have Ghosts” was on the fantastic and underappreciated “Where the Pyramid Meets the Eye” tribute album from 1990. And, fwiw, I believe “Roky” is said just like “Rocky”.
