In honor of The Beatles’ All You Need Is Love appearance (on this date back in 1967), and the upcoming Thanksgiving Holiday, how about a double-length show featuring some great Beatles covers? You’ll hear Aimee Mann and Michael Penn, Vanessa Mae, Glyn Johns, Dave Davies, Fiona Apple, Rosie Thomas, Sarah McLachlan, Jeff Beck, Jimmy James, The Smithereens, Eric Johnson, The Virgos, John Entwhistle and Jools Holland and his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra.

thanks to you, we no longer have to rely solely on the ‘i am sam’ soundtrack for beatles covers.
hey brian… i realize it’s after the fact, but can i request elliott smith doing “because” when you get a chance. acapella arrangement, all his voice multi-mastered, lots of falsetto. it’s hard to believe it’s already been over a year… i miss that guy.
i said some more stuff about your double-shot show here
epic show…!

I’m enjoying this podcast, but will be disappointed if it doesn’t include a song from the excellent Beatles Go Baroque. Their version of “The Long and Winding Road” is gorgeous. I can hook you up with an MP3, if you want.
Not listened to the show yet, but I’ve been meaning to tip you off about my favourite covers for weeks now, number one of which is a Beatles number. It’s “Getting Better”, by The Wedding Present, from the NME charity album “Sergeant Pepper Knew My Father”… it’s available on “George Best Plus” too I think, the reissue of the first album. I can send you an MP3 if you can’t track it down…
Other favourites are The Darkness doing magnificent justice to Radiohead‘s “Street Spirit”, and Faster Pussycat’s odd electro version of I Was Made For Lovin’ You. Also have you played St Etiene’s cover of “Only Love Can Break Your Heart”? Maybe the best cover ever, not everyone realises it’s a cover.
Keep up the good work.

Just thought of a good one, in the novelty vein though, it’s Elbow’s cover of Independent Woman… not got an MP3, but you can hear it here…
