It's worth checking out the "Dwight Sings Buck" CD, a whole collection of Buck Owens covers by Dwight from 2007. More country please in 2009!
And will you all lay off "We Built This City". No way is that the worst song recorded, especially considering the very long history of novelty records here in the UK. Personally it's one of my favourite songs from the 80's or any time.
I bet Bernie Taupin (writer of this song, and a few other popular hits…) has enjoyed every dollar of the millions in royalties he has earned from this song. I bet most of the people in the magazine or polled were not even born in 1985, so have no cultural appreciation anyway! I'd hazard a guess some have not even heard the song.
I stand by it – it's a GREAT song, for the era it was released in. For gods sake, "We are the world" was released in the same year, all 7 minutes of it. Good cause or not, that WAS shite!
Listening to this 'cast right now and really digging the Youngblood Brass Band cover of Killing Me Softly…amazing euphonium work especially! But the whole band is terrific. Great cover choice!
And I have to agree with Wayne, Starship's ballad "Sarah" is WAY worse than "We Built This City." 🙂
“The WORST song ever, worse than `Honey,' worse than `Having My Baby' (is) `The Men in My Little Girl's Life,' by Mike Douglas. It went to 6 in '66 (see the 666, sign of the Antichrist?) Of course, way before the MTV/VH1 era, for which `We Bilked This City Outta Rock 'n' Roll' is a pretty good choice.'' (Roger Green, Albany)
(Note: The Starship song “We Built This City'' finished No. 1 in both the VH1 and Blender polls for worst song ever.)

"Knee Deep In The Hoopla"
It is not so much that "We Built this City" is so bad it is the depth the "Airplane" had fallen. Image Pink Floyd singing Winchester Cathedral

So Blender's hated Starship for YEARS!
Yo Dave, there's no Euphonium in the Youngblood Brass Band… You might mean the best sousaphonist in the world though!!
Hey Dave, thanks for playing The Streets of Bakersfield, that was pretty cool.
Dave? Dave's not here.
Haha, what was I thinking about? BRIAN! Maybe I had Dave Letterman on my mind? Sorry about that. Good luck with my next request huh? 🙂
