Another listener request for today’s Who Did It Better – with versions of “Sweet Child of Mine”, originally by Guns ‘n’ Roses. It’s a battle of the organic vs. the electronic, with a version by Taken By Trees (
), then a version by Flatpack ()

It was a toss up for me, not between either of the two bands, but whether to pick "neither" or "other". My other would have been G'N'R themselves.
Sorry Brian but the original is one of my favourite songs and neither of these guys "did it better".

Flatpack "cheapen" the song – not that I am a big fan of G'n'R to begin with though …
Man, I'm torn between both of them. But I think Taken by Trees just edges out Flatpack's version. I can see myself really enjoying both, depending on my mood.
First let me say that the original GnR version blows these two away. But I was really torn between the two versions you played here. I absolutely loved the piano in the Taken by Trees version, but I gave it to Flatpack by a small margin. Something about their rendition just resonated with me a little more than the other.
I agree that GnR's is still the best, but between these two, I went with Flatpack. The Taken By Trees version was very predictable I thought, just stripping down the song in a way that Sheryl Crow already had. The electronic version was at least something fresher.
It's hard to compete with Guns, but here we have two very nice versions…
Oh, Sweet Jesus of Mine! Cover of…or destruction of? Do Taken by Trees do a lullaby version of Enter Sandman?
The flatpack version was junk. It stunk. Nothing is as good as the original, but I'll take the piano version of these two offered. The only thing about the flatpack version you could call "Sweet Child of Mine" was the lyrics. Nothing else about the song was even close. Yuck!
