Results of last week’s battle: Who did it better? Jerry Chapman, H.I.M. or The Peptides?
After the intensity of last week’s song and battle, let’s lighten things up with a couple covers of Boston-based heartthrobs New Edition, and their big hit single “Cool It Now”. First up is peppy female-fronted version by early 90’s summer fling Len. Second, a stripped-down funky version by Robbers on High Street.

Ronny, Bobby, Ricky and Mike, if I play both covers, which one do you like?

Somewhere I have the original on 45 RPM. Always thought it was awesome that they included the instrumental version on the b-side and the lyrics on the back. Sort of early 80s karaoke.
I love "steal my sunshine", had no idea Len covered this song. It really works because new edition was made up of such young boys that had high pitched voices, so the female vocal sounds like it belongs. Thanks for playing it Brian!
Since it’s a tie, and I’m woefully behind, I’ll cast my tie-breaking vote for Robbers On High Street. It had a great vibe to it. However, I don’t know the original, so I don’t have anything to compare them to! Thanks for the great podcasts, Brian!
