The first Triple Takes (show #7) was the only podcast that – up to that point – had gotten any comments, so I knew I was on to something, and the responses made me want to keep doing the show. So tonight, we’ll do another Triple Takes show. This is where I play three versions of the same track, by different artists with very different styles, so you can see the differences and similarities.
Tonight you’ll hear the following (links included where available):
The Korgis – “Everybody’s Gotta Learn Sometime”
Erasure – “Everybody’s Gotta Learn Sometime”
Beck – “Everybody’s Gotta Learn Sometime”
Ray Davies & Damon Albarn – “Waterloo Sunset”
The Fastbacks – “Waterloo Sunset”
Def Leppard – “Waterloo Sunset”
Hey, great show today!
By the way, talking about Waterloo Sunset covers, did you know David Bowie did one during his Reality studio sessions? It appears as a bonus track on a limited edition of the album (the one that comes with a DVD), and I actually believe it’s the best version of the song…
Bye!
Wow, The Korgis song takes me way back to High School. I remember having heard it played on the air briefly and then it just disappeared from American radio. Gave me a sort of weird dejavu feeling. Maybe a lonely set of neurons were getting a work out after 25 years of slumber. 🙂
Nice work. I’ve always loved the Fastbacks! Used to live in Seattle, so I got to see them all of the time. Keep it up.
