If you grabbed a copy of this show before 9:30am on Wednesday, and you hear weird “chirping” noises, you’ll be happy to know that it’s been fixed. I was upgrading MovableType to 3.12 last night and left my FTP program on ASCII.
This show features some terrific covers by Paul Carrack, U2, The Church, Too Much Joy, Trip Shakespeare and a frequent request by Sid Vicious.
Also, send me the name of what you feel is the best cover – it could be one I’ve played on my show or not – and I’ll amass the 2004 Coverville Countdown for the final shows of the year where I’ll tally up your votes and play the best covers of the year. Email me at brian at coverville.com, call me on my voice mail at 314-248-9957, or post a message on this or any entry.
Adam Curry goes on about Coverville all the time, and now i understand why, love it
Unfortunately the first show i downloaded (today’s one) is a little broken
Assume the bps were too low perhaps?
This is great broadcasting, great content and educational all at the same time! I particularly enjoyed the Shawn Colvin cover of Fleetwood Mac’s Chain and the Edelweiss track with ABBA’s SOS theme.
Keep it going
Best wishes
Steve
Great shows, but this recording was too poor for my patience — which is terrible.
I’ll try next time because previous shows were in excellent shape.
The service is great here, thanks for the update. I’m sure the file is now fantastic.
Something terribly wrong with this recording. No word if Traci received the LDD. Thanks

You mention Starry Eyes being done by Motley Crue. From the snippet I just heard on iTunes, I think that’s an altogether different song. In fact, all of the “Starry Eyes” songs on iTunes seem to be different songs.
Too bad the original of the song you played — by The Records — isn’t there.
“The writ has hit the fan.” Heh. Back in the day we RE-RECORDED PUNS, we didn’t just cough-button the cusswords…
Best covers ever:
You’ve already played Jeff Buckley’s version of “Hallelujah,” which gets my first place vote. But I strongly feel, although some may accuse me of blasphemy, that The Lemonheads’ cover of “Mrs. Robinson” is genius.
Jimmy Buffett covers Van Morrison’s Brown Eyed Girl.
The live version from Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays is much better than the studio version.
Also on that live album (CD) is a cover of CSN’s Southern Cross. Both get my vote.
