Shoot, if I’da knowed you were going to do Country covers I would have suggested two from the new Imus Ranch II release (yes, that Imus). Outstanding Jamey Johnson cover of Meat Loaf/Jim Steinman’s “Two Out Of Three Ain’t Bad” that would have fit well. Also CC’s Adam Durvitz covering Warren Zevon’s Carmelita.
That said, anything by The Cleverlys is a good call.
Fantastic – LOVED that Dream Academy cover – it’s one of those magical timeless songs that could have been released now. They were also touched by greatness by being featured in Ferris Bueller with their fantastic Smiths cover of “please, please, please, let me get what I want”.
Just a suggestion for the bonus tracks, perhaps something different. Talking of The Eagles, their most recent album featured a great rendition of the song “how long”. This is actually a cover of a JD Souther track that had been hanging around since about 1972, having been released solo by JD. How great would it be to hear the originalville version of this song?
More country please!
Great show. Picking up the Catina Band song (good ventrillo material).
I though maybe I was weird due to how much Dream Academy is in my collection. This Sugarland version will be a great addition to my collection.

This is a great show. I was surprised how much I liked Single Ladies and Walk On the Wild Side, no to mention PYT. The only time it started into kitsch was the Black Eyed Peas song.
My bonus track suggestion: Dolly Parton doing Travelin’ Prayer (Billy Joel song) from the 1999 The Grass Is Blue album.
Wow, Brian! I’m really impressed by how great these songs sounded.
