Hi Brian, another great show, and thanks for kicking it off with a fun Joni cover. Just to clear up your question, Joni was scheduled to appear on The Dick Cavett show in NYC along with CSN – her manager Elliott Roberts thought it best that she not attend Woodstock lest she get tied up in the mass crowd and not be able to make it back (the Cavett appearance was a big national break for her). CSN went ahead and went anyway, and a helicopter got them back to NYC in time to make the Cavett show. That historic show was released on DVD last year.
As for the Godfrey Daniel cover, you probably know that this was the Amboy Dukes (less Ted Nugent) who did this one-off project on a lark. Their Woodstock cover pinches inspiration from Dion’s “Runaround Sue”, Del Shannon’s “Runaround”, and The Cadets’ “Stranded In The Jungle”.
On another note, you’re right about The Blue Man Group – I caught them live, wasn’t expecting much, and they blew me away.
Keep up the always-excellent job!
