I know there’s going to be tons of comments about Beach Boys covers that didn’t get played, so let me be the first.
I would like to hear Junior Brown’s version of 409. It’s a great cover – if I’d known a Beach Boys coverstory was in the works I would have requested it before.
Pet Sounds covered later Brian?
No complaint, but please don’t forget!
Wow! Thanks for the 30’s version of Sloop John B. – despite the audio quality it was fascinating!
And, a small fyi, the greatest version of that I have ever heard is a duo with the late Lonny Donegan and Van Morrison on the Skiffle Sessions.
Catch it. You won’t believe it.
Great show. This is picky I know, and i know the TMBG fans will be after me, but their version of “Caroline No” was a facscimile, not a cover IMO. I can’t see what creative input they added or what they did to add their own “stamp” to the song?
That’s what i love about Coverville – someone taking someone elses creativity and adding their own mark to the song, a la “Lithium” by The Polyphonic Spree last week. Ok, it’s a plug for them, I admit it, but a good example nonetheless.
Too many covers available for just one (albeit, great) show. The Beach Boys covers scream out fot a part 2. Everyone deserves to hear the aching lonliness brilliantly wrung out of “In My Room” by the late, great Danny Gatton.
Very, very good. I might even make a copy for my friend in DC who is a devout Beach Boys fan. Thanks
check out Catch 22’s cover of Sloop John B.
it’s brilliant.
