A couple weeks ago, TIna and I got to sit down with Tim DeLaughter from The Polyphonic Spree for an interview on the opening night of their most recent tour. Here’s what’s on the show tonight:
Title (with link to iTunes, if available) | Artist | Album (with link to Amazon.com, if available) | Original Artist |
Light And Day (single version) | The Polyphonic Spree | The Beginning Stages Of… | N/A |
Lithium | The Polyphonic Spree | Wait | Nirvana |
Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band | The Polyphonic Spree | Live | Beatles |
Sigmund and the Sea Monster | Tripping Daisy | Saturday Morning Cartoons’ Greatest Hits | Sid and Marty Krofft |
Yay!!!!
I got the Wait e.p. a few weeks ago, and totally thought of the podcast, since these are AMAZING covers.
What did you make of the 2 new songs Kathy?
I think the new album is gonna be awesome – Spring 2007(ish).
Brian will testify, you gotta see them live; a great experience.
On the covers front, there is also a Spree version of “shiny Happy People” that is unreleased as yet, but which featured on a soundtrack last year that has been unreleased…we can hope as apparently it was very good.
I seem to be totally unable to source this EP in the UK which is a real shame as I love the Lithium cover! 🙁
Hi Gareth
I spoke to them and I think they are working on something for the UK. The problem is Hollywood (ex label) have some kind of rights to distribute via i-tunes, but USA only.
Don’t worry, the band know they have LOTS of support in the UK and they will be back as soon as.
Lithium is indeed awesome!

20 plus on a tour bus? I’ve been on tour buses, and that sounds insane! Nothing but bunks, I’m guessing. No front or rear lounge?
Yikes.
