Awesome. Truly the best album of all time IMO. I have the 40th Anniversary Box set and that has vocal only versions and instrumental track only versions and when you listen to just the vocals and the harmonies you really appreciate how wonderful and timeless these lyrics are.
I hate to correct you, but I would like to clarify about Sloop John B. My understanding is that Al Jardine turned Brian Wilson onto the Kingston Trio's version but it was only included on Pet Sounds having sold a LOT of copies as a single 2 months before Pet Sounds was released and was a last minute inclusion.
Having said this, I absolutely love the song and I think it fits in completely, even though it has a different feel to the other songs, that are mostly heartfelt.
A spectacular job Mr Ibbott!!
I have a technical question: when does the iTunes version of your podcast show up, in relationship to when you put it online?
It's usually within a few minutes. I have a subscription to each feed so I can check to make sure I didn't post or upload incorrectly, and it's often pretty quickly available. If it's not coming in soon enough, it might be how often you check for new shows. In your podcast "catcher", you can usually set the frequency of how often it checks the feed for new items, in case you want to look for it sooner.
I've been listening to your show almost since the beginning, and this episode blew me away, and is, without a doubt, your best ever. I listened to it three times last night, which I've never done before.
Sixpence None The Richer!! wooww!!
One thing you forgot about Rebecca Pidgeon.
She's David Mamet's wife and most of her acting credits are in his movies.

Might have something to do with why she's on a soundtrack for Mamet's latest movie, Redbelt.
I've been listening to your show for over 3 years, and I think this is one of the best episodes you've ever done. I especially liked the covers of "I'm Waiting for the Day" and "Hang On To Your Ego". Of course, it helps that the episode is based on one of the best albums in rock history, but with so many cover versions, your taste in selection is a big factor too.
Keep up the good work. Hope all is going well for you.

I've been waiting for the day of this particular episode. As you know, there exists many covers of Pet Sounds.
I have "Caroline Now" (tribute to Brian Wilson) which has some Pet Sound covers. For something interesting, check out. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hippocamp_Ruins_Pet_…
Is it me or is the instrumental cover of "Pet Sounds" by musician Jac Zinder incorrect? It doesn't sound like the correct track. I sent Brian an email about this possible error.
It's not a cover, but I love the use of SJB in the Okkervil River track "John Allyn Smith Sails," which closes their album The Stage Names.
Does the Brian Wilson Live at the Roxy cover of "Pet Sounds" (instrumental) count as a cover since it was performed mostly by Wondermints?
Ordinarily, I wouldn't consider it a cover since they're Brian's backing band, but since it's an instrumental with no involvement from him, then yeah.
