The regrettable resurgence of "Don't Stop Believing" started when the 2005 Chicago White Sox — with a roster of players too young to appreciate the unspeakable horror of this crime against humanity — selected the song as the unofficial anthem for their successful World Series run. Now all we need is for somebody to dig up "Only Time Will Tell" by Asia.
Glad to see a "heavier" show – the Seether cover gets my top vote by landslide! Although the a cappella cover of Queen was just as good, too.
The only thing that would have made this show even better would have been hearing my hard rock cover of "Gone Hollywood" – it would have been a PERFECT fit, Brian! 🙂
Loved that Careless Whisper cover, in fact loved all the faster ones bar the last and particularly enjoyed my "yea' man's" backing vocals during Suffragette City. I need to go check out Rock Band here to see if that Journey song is available – popped up recently at the end of the "Bedtime Stories" movie – I like the song – as Brian says, it's a classic pop song!!
I dunno Wayne – I loved Brian turning things up to eleven, but that Poison cover sounded more like a failed impersonation than a cover. Careless Whisper and Your So Vain were at least are cross genre covers and have the advantage on the fun quotient, but I have trouble with covers that do nothing with the song.
(Apologies for the weak attempt at sparking controversy)
Really loved this show! Snakefarm is on eMusic, I might pick up the Northern Kings album off iTunes, and was really looking forward to grabbing the Seether album but it's not available on the Australian iTunes store 🙁
Thanks for playing my request. I guess I lucked out that you had a bunch of heavier songs waiting in the wings. Great show overall. My favorite being the Queen cover. I just love almost anything a cappella .
I love Seether's album. Check out this exclusive interview where the guys talk about their third studio album “Finding Beauty In Negative Spaces” and describe what fans can expect from a Seether show – a lot of energy, sweat and a good time: http://soundcheck.walmart.com/risers/seether
I didn't care at all for the harder tracks. However, I so fell in love with the Snakefarm track that I immediately went and picked up a used copy of this album. It's fantastic! Thanks for introducing me to them. Great find.
The Journey cover was friggin' awesome, Brian. The Wham cover was awful, however. Stay to your true colors and refrain from the crappy nu-metal bands!
The Information, which contains "Think I'm in Love," came out in October 2006 and is not Beck's newest album. He released Modern Guilt in July 2008.
Brian,
I'm not sure if I should thank you or curse you for getting me addicted to Snakefarm. I haven't turned that cd off since I bought it.
By the way… this is Chris, the requester of that Snakefarm track… they’ve just hinted a new album is in the offing…
