NICE version of Blinded By The Light. I'm not a fan of this song or of almost anything by Bruce Springsteen but I LOVED the feel to this one. What a great find.
Brian – You surprised me with the Kansas cover. Jazzy!
What makes "Blinded by the Light" a cover? Bruce wrote the song.
It's what we call on the show a "re-cover". This is when an artist takes one of their own songs, and reinvents it with a completely different sound. Bruce's new take on "Blinded" moves the song into a direction completely different from his original, or the Manfred Mann versions. Look at the unplugged version of Eric Clapton's "Layla" for another great example.
That said, just because an artist wrote a song doesn't mean they can't cover it. The Family and Sinead O'Connor both released versions of the Prince-written "Nothing Compares 2 U" long before Prince recorded his own version. Which makes his a cover.
Just got to listening to this. I was completely surprised by the cover and dedication my wife sent in. Thank’s so much!
Just listened to this today. Thanks for playing my request! Boy howdy was that ever a different version of "Blinded By The Light". I have to have it now. Awesome stuff.
