Pictures of Matchstick Men would make a fantastic WDIB. There are some really great covers of this one. My favorite is from Ozzy + Type O Negative from the Howard Stern bio-pic soundtrack.
I don't think all of my ratings registered. Uggghhh, now Brian is going to think people hate the songs he picked out.
Evan- I was voting, and when I cast my vote, it seemed that half of the scores were ZERO, but whatever happened has seemed to have rectified itself.
BRIAN – YOU KILL ME !!!!
Literally, I was walking back from the Smithsonian Folklife Festival < ;http://www.festival.si.edu/> Marketplace Tent. Me and CD lady had just scoured the racks in pursuit of my "Mariachi Cover Album." She thought it was a great idea, but we found nothing and she sent me home with this < ;http://www.folkways.si.edu/albumdetails.aspx?itemid=2818>.
But my disappointment washed away – what could be cooler than our great Celtic philosopher covering our great amphibious philosopher. How can you not smile listening to that.
On the track of the mythical "Mariachi Cover Album,” I did find these: http://www.urlesque.com/2009/07/17/mariachi-band-…
and something called “Mariachill Out” which is a little too smooth for my tastes: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FV7KLUqJi7g
again, thanks Jimmy/DC
I can't find the Samatha Martin tune on her website. Brian, your link took us to the myspace page, but there is a link to another site there. I went there and she has an album available for download, but it doesn't have that song. Brian, can you share a link or something? I'd like to buy it and have it in my collection. THanks.
