About time I did a Doors Cover Story! And this one is a doozy; covers by some of your favorite artists, and hopefully some new favorites as well.

That last track made me think it might be time for a Joan Jett cover story.
It’s a bit sad that there is no song that The Doors covered, like “Alabama Song”.
Another in the “It’s about time we had a [insert classically great artist here] Cover Story” category: Eric Clapton. I’d also call this category, “Seriously? You did Cyndi Lauper and you haven’t done [insert classically great artist here]?”. Nothing wrong with Cyndi Lauper, I’m just sayin’ …
Relatively new fan here, going through the old shows on my Coverville CD set kind of randomly. But holy crap Opie Gone Bad is the best! After hearing “Sympathy for The Devil/Livin’ for the City” I downloaded everything Opie I could find on iTunes.
Hey Brian, I know you love that synthy electropop sound, but I would have loooooooved to hear a bigger variety of genres of Doors covers in there… maybe one of the very fine soul/funk covers of Light My Fire that exist out there… Stevie Wonder and Irma Franklin’s versions are awesome!!!
It rocked that you played SeƱor Coconut though, I love that guy’s stuff.
Sorry, don’t want to be too critical – love your work!
Hey Brian,
Longtime fan of this podcast and have been with FilmSack since episode 1…great work. Sooo many covers of Light My Fire, but for money, I always go with the Shirley Bassey…so James Bond and shaggadelic! And after talking about the Echo and the Bunnymen cover on FilmSack…you didn’t choose it. Okay, enough bad talk because you are still great. I will try to post more and will someday and go back and listen to the earlier episodes (I missed first 400 or so). TTFN.
All I can say is I loved it…
Thought it was heading a little too electronica but it was a wonderful finish.
That’s actually why I try and group like genres together – so I can “confine” them to a single set. I tried to limit the electronica to just the first set, and then go with more traditional covers for the remainder of the show.
And since I’ve played the Echo & The Bunnymen “People Are Strange” on the show a couple times before, I decided to air something different. But I might have to put that one in the Bonus Tracks show if there’s enough demand for it.
And look for one of the Doors’ covers on The Bonus Tracks show too!
Wow, I would’ve never guessed that it was Jimmy Somerville singing People Are Strange until you announced it at the end. I had to play it again to once I knew.
