I am just about to press play on this episode and I am already thanking you for it, Brian. I recieved the Complete Robert Johnson Collection on cassete (I KNOW!) one year for Christmas and have loved him ever since. And what a life story!
Again, I bow in gratitude sir…
Brian- You’re welcome.

PS Should you do a bonus tracks show on RJ, might I suggest the Butterfield Blues Band’s Walkin’ Blues from the East/West album.
This may be the highest percentage coverage of an artist in Coverville history. Johnson only recorded 27 distinct songs in his two sessions, and, here you have covers for 14 of them.
Thanks. 🙂
Love love love the Robert Johnson cover story! Heya Brian, where is that Eric Clapton cover story you said you did? I’ve searched the Coverville DVDs but I’m not seeing it.
I hate to admit but I’m normally a bit of a track skipper and jump past songs that I don’t know by people I don’t know. However, I listened to every track of this show despite only being familiar with Sweet Home Chicago and loved every minute of it. Cracking show Brian – loved it! Now we’ve had a Blues show, how about a Jazz one?
Like the show… but how is the Lightnin’ Hopkins song a cover of the Robert Johnson one? Other than sharing the title, they seem like different songs to me. Also, shouldn’t it be Hell *Hound* on my trail?
This just popped up on my twitter feed:

Oh, and keep up the great work, Brian 🙂
FYI, the Todd Rundgren cover of “Hellhound On My Trail” is mislabeled as “Hellbound On My Trail.” I’m guessing this is because Amazon also has it mislabeled, as does iTunes. You can confirm that Mr. Rundgren wasn’t taking artistic license with the title by looking at an image of the back of the album:

Seems like someone at the record company was blindly relying upon spell-check.
And speaking of typos, the Keb’ Mo’ track is misspelled on iTunes as “Kindharted Woman Blues.” It doesn’t show up when you do a search for the song title with the proper spelling. Is there a way to submit corrections to the iTunes folks? I come across typos all of the time. Amazon, Wikipedia both put the track as “Kindhearted …”, Mr. Mo’s website lists it as “Kind Hearted…”, but the back of the album has it as “Kindhearted …”:

Anyway, enough nitpicking for today!
