AAC file not found error in the iTunes feed for this episode.
The Jimmy Scott album where “Jealous Guy” may be found is titled HOLDING BACK THE YEARS (though it does, as memory serves, also feature a cover of “Someone to Watch Over Me”).
Love that trivia. How DID he do that?!
But that guy doesn’t have great math skills: 4 questions X 4 items (song, band, bassist, drummer) = 16, not 12.
Thanks for fixing the AAC file and the Jimmy Scott album title — and I hope you’ll play some more music by this legendary artist!
That was a great musically challenged. two things. 1. i hope he does more. 2. how did he do that?
thanks,

I have to say that your podcast, Brian, is the BEST in the world! In few words, that is it. Thank you for the lovely work you do…
I only offered 3 points per song: 1 for song title, 1 for band name, and 1 extra for naming the drummer AND bassist.
Glad you enjoyed it though 🙂 Thanks!
Regarding the music used in the trivia:
I don’t know exactly how it was done in this case, but there’s a couple ways to get instrumental versions of songs. Sometimes the artists themselves release the individual tracks or an instrumental version; that’s the easiest method. If the song is popular, there’s usually a karaoke version too (either official, redone by a soundalike band, or ripped from a Guitar Hero-type game).
For other songs, you can try using some audio manipulation to cancel out the vocals. This is particularly handy with older songs (like the Beatles) that used simpler recording equipment. A quick Google search gives some tutorials on how to do this: http://www.howtogeek.com/56335/how-to-remove-vocals-from-music-tracks-using-audacity/
Yeah I’m 95% sure these came from Rock Band/ Guitar Hero games, since I know most of these songs are available in them. Another source to strip vocals from, though can be uneven with getting individual instruments, are through albums that were released on DVD in 5.1 stereo.
