A musical 70th birthday card to a singer/songwriter who’s put out so much incredible music, during his time with the Hollies, his time with Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, and in his solo career. Tonight, the music of Graham Nash on Coverville! (60 minutes)

The new site design is really a giant leap backwards in usability.
Hi Niles,
Can you help me out a little bit – we’re still in the middle of the finishing touches on the redesign, but what specifically is making it harder to use?
Brian
Two usability items that I’ve noticed:
– I miss the links for the next and previous posts
– I don’t like that the album art thumbnails are hidden initially.
I often listen to coverville at work via desktop itunes. I keep a tab on my browser open to the episode I’m listening to. If I hear a song I like (or wonder about), I glance at the album art in iTunes and then switch to the browser window. This used to be quicker than waiting for iTunes’ rotating display to show the title/artist again.
When iTunes takes me to the next episode of Coverville, I want to click on the “next episode” link on my Coverville tab. No such luck now.
They’re definitely valid points. At the very least, I should be able to get “Next Post/Prev Post” links in there.
The purpose of the changes were to really clean up the design, which I felt was getting very cluttered. And the album art was part of that. I couldn’t go much narrower for an album art column, but I still wanted to find a way I could include it. And not having the art really opened up the table and made it much easier to read overall.
That said, let me see if there’s a way for users to override the CSS of the new site with their own CSS file that they can download and store locally.
Unfortunately, I have to agree. I much preferred seeing the song list on the main page itself. Gives a glimpse at what’s being featured. Now we need to click on the episode to see it, and I see no way back to viewing past episodes currently although I’m sure that’s still being worked on as the archive link isn’t currently working.
I actually really like the collapsible list you’ve started using a few episodes ago. If there’d be a way to have a collapsible list on the main page with the main page, it might be more usable.
