Great, but Arlo is singing a tribute to Arlo @7?
Not sure what you mean, Casper. Are you referring to the lyrical changes from Woody’s original version?
The good choice. You do have a sense of history, as you also did Robert Johnson’s 100th.
Maybe next week, you can do the Byrds, since Roger (good name!) McGuinn turns 70 today.
Listening to the first track by Sharon Jones, I kept thinking, “i didn’t realize Woody Guthrie wrote the opening theme to the Wire.”
Brian- no Bruce Cover on Guthrie? Really?
think his Vigilante Man or This Land would have hit the spot
I wasn’t expecting this episode to be so awesome! A lot of really great songs in here. Maybe I need to go back and listen to some more Woody.
Jones is singing Woody’s original lyrics albeit earlier in the song than Woody had them. McCarthyites removed those verses over the years. Thought it would turn kids into commies.
