Lots of great YouTubage for your Wednesday. maybe a regular feature for this in the future?
First up is Mavie Marcos’ excellent cover of “Girls Just Want To Have Fun” from the Cyndi Lauper Cover Story last week:
The app used for all the music (and appears in the video) is PatternMusic, and is available here:
Next up – with thanks to Don – is a Ukrainian Folk version of AC/DC’s “Highway To Hell”:
And finally, Dave in McDonough, GA pointed me to this video, where The Axis Of Awesome discover that all the best songs only use the same four chords (has someone already done this, or am I mistaken?). Warning, some NSFW language:
Regarding song using the same chords: Rob P does this in his "Pachelbel Rant" about the same 4 chords:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JdxkVQy7QLM
Tripod had a piece where they medleyed through a series of Oasis songs – "D'you Know What I Mean?", "Wonderwall", "Whatever", "Don't Look Back in Anger" and "Champagne Supernova" – before overlaying them to show how the chord progressions were identical.
An early version performed in the talent quest section of an Australian variety show is at:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t2wJDnyd-ow . The lyrics to a live performance of a later version are athttp://members.optusnet.com.au/pennywyatt/Interes… .
There's a mash-up of Nickelback's "This is how you remind me" and "Someday" overlaid so one song is in the right channel and the other is in the left — the songs line up startlingly close. The same has also been done with Linkin Park's "Crawling" and "Numb"
Postscript – the studio version of the Axis of Awesome track is athttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qHBVnMf2t7w , with a somewhat different list of tracks which are identified by screencrawl.
reminds me of jimmy fallon singing any 80's song to you can't touch this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a5RpprUPEPM
