Just wanna say, this is the best show you’ve done in months! Kudos for some great songs.
Awesome show, loved the christmas song never heard it before. Didn’t the Black Eyed Peas sampled Misirlou on their song Pump it?
Forgive me Brian, I will be fast forwading past “Love is all around” by Wet Wet Wet. Not that I have a problem with the band as such, but I remember every one of the 15 damned weeks they spent at number 1 with that song and it has scarred me for life.
Don’t even get me started on “Everything I do (I do it for you)” – 16 LONG weeks at number 1…I could commit murder. Kevin Costners insistence on plaing Robin Hood as an American is as bad as his insistence on pulling out the old JFK speech!

Hey Brian, Totally love the show. FYI:
Not only are the Wet Wet Wet and Bill Nighy versions both from Hugh Grant soundtracks. Both films were written by Richard Curtis (who also wrote Blackadder and Mr. Bean). So the fact he uses Love is all Around once again in Love, Actually is a bit of an In Joke. 🙂
Hey Brian, loved the show today–Love Actually is one of my favorite movies (for when I want something fun and fairly mindless). Also wanted to say that I first heard Misirlou when Ben Folds put it in the live version of his song Philosophy (on the Ben Folds Live album)–and I didn’t even realize it was the same as the Black Eyed Peas song until you played the surf version! If you have a chance, give the BF version a listen–the song with just his manic piano hands is quite different.
Delighted that you featured the Kronos version – I had a review of this album up at my site from back in 2000 at http://macdialup.com/zwilliams/review76.htm
Loved this show, Brian. Never heard a Triple Take before and it was super. The songs you picked were outstanding! Can’t argue with a song from my all-time, absolutely favorite, best ever movie – Four Weddings and a Funeral. Loved hearing the Beach Boys doing a Greek song too. Keep up the good work.
